This weekend I got together with friends. Except they weren?t just any friends, they were best friends. I met most of them ten years ago as a freshman at Houghton College. They are girls I grew to know and love over four years in school, who would avoid cleaning the kitchen at all costs and drop things at any moment to have a dance party. Girls who have shared secrets and stood by each other through life?s joys and trials. It was hard to move away from each other, as we graduated and established lives on our own? but I?m so thankful to say we?ve stayed friends through it. At least once each year we find a reason to reunite, and all of those able make the trip.
On Saturday they threw an amazing baby shower for me. I felt like the luckiest, not only to have them come together and celebrate the baby but to know I had friends who truly loved me. I can only hope our baby finds the same kind of friendships.
Here?s a little peek at the shower set up, treats, and decorations they worked hard to put together. I haven?t shared too much of our baby prep on this blog but this week I?ll have a few posts about the things we?ve been bringing home and preparing for the baby?s arrival.. including some of the fun gifts given at this party!
milk glass cake plates, white platters and trifle bowls held a variety of sweets that we indulged in? even though there were so many it barely looked like they were touched!
Sarah hosted the party and was the mastermind behind much of the planning. She made chocolate dipped marshmallows and noted that making her own marshmallows would be going too far :) (I?ll begin that process that week for all of my clients!)
I knew they thought of every detail and truly had me in mind when I saw the cloth napkins. I suppose you could say I?m one of ?those people? who grew up with cloth napkins and use them almost exclusively still. (They are so easy to wash, I don?t understand why more people don?t use them)
It?s the little giraffe I gave Sarah at her baby shower! It was not a re-gift, just a fun little seat decoration? and as you can see I loved it all.
Mary Claire made some pin boards where everyone guessed the gender, weight, and actual birth date. I am fairly determined to not have a January baby (it is already the birthday month for my dad, sister + husband) however as we start to inch closer I know I soon won?t mind having the baby a little sooner than later. (due date is Feb 1, which we all know is really just a rough guess as to when the baby will arrive)
Silver stars were perfect Christmas decorations and party favors that also served as reminders to pray for the new baby. It was such a fun party and thanks to everyone who contribute to making it possible and joined in the festivities. Here?s the friends group shot we conned a passerby to take after breakfast in Pittsford. I?m glad he didn?t run off with my camera :)
