Sport drinks are?an excellent way to provide athletes of all ages with important electrolytes lost during exercise. ?They are also a good fluid replacement option when you?re sick and need to hydrate and replace calories. By making your own sport drinks you avoid the high sugar, high sodium, artificial color and chemical ingredients of store bought versions.?Gatorade recently came under scrutiny for including an ingredient linked to flame retardant. Our kids deserve better than that!
The recipes below provide antioxidants, vitamins and nutrition of natural juices in a rapidly absorbed formula.?
Lemon Flavor Natural Sports Drink:
- 1/4 c. honey
- 1/2 c. fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 t.?sea salt
- 2 quarts water
Mix well.? Makes a little over 2 quarts.
Cranberry-Pomegranate Flavor Natural Sports Drink:
- 2 c. 100% juice cranberry-pomegranate juice
- 1.5 individual packets of?Stevia?(or to taste)
- 1/4 t. sea salt
- 2 quarts water
Mix well.?? Makes 2 1/2 quarts.
